Crown Court

Overview

Crown Court is home to the Academy’s mortal students and operates primarily around the Academy’s daytime academic schedule.

Its principal residential and Court spaces include Caelus House, Solarium Hall, Crown Cloister and the Crown Dormitories. Crown Court scholars pursue rigorous academic scholarship, student leadership, athletics and co-curricular projects across Vesper Island.

Crown is not a “good” Court and Thorn is not an “evil” Court. The Courts exist in balance rather than moral opposition.

History

The history of Crown Court is tied to Caelus Crown, one of the two sons of Aurelius. Crown Court took the name of Caelus Crown to represent the daytime student body of the Academy.

The Courts were never intended to represent opposing sides. Their purpose was balance: two distinct student bodies existing within the same institution without requiring either to abandon its nature.

Residences

Crown Court occupies the western side of the Academy grounds on Vesper Island.

Academic Life

Crown Court follows the Academy’s principal daytime schedule. Its students receive the full Saint Aurelius curriculum alongside advanced electives, Society work, athletics and independent study.

Court life places particular emphasis on academic ambition, leadership, civic responsibility and preparation for life beyond Vesper Island.

Daytime lectures and seminars take place in central academic buildings, laboratories, and the Grand Library.

Traditions

Crown Court traditions emphasize community responsibility, academic distinction, and institutional balance:

• The Morning Assembly: Daily opening gathering in Solarium Hall before morning lectures.
• The Concord Forum: Joint inter-court discussions held in the Concord Quadrangle.
• Annual Academic Laurels: Scholastic recognition ceremonies celebrating top academic research.
